How to install an eSIM (iOS and Android)
Step by step from QR code to working data, including the settings you need.
5 min
Before you start
Install your eSIM on Wi-Fi before you leave. You need an internet connection to download the profile, and you do not want to depend on airport Wi-Fi.
Keep the QR code or activation code safe — most profiles can only be installed once.
iPhone
Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code. Scan the code, label the profile (for example 'Travel') and switch 'Cellular Data' to the eSIM once you land.
Turn on data roaming for the eSIM: travel eSIMs usually roam on local networks. Keep your own SIM active for calls and SMS, but disable its data roaming.
Android
Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add eSIM → Scan QR code. Then set 'Mobile data' to the eSIM and enable roaming for that profile.
If there is no connection
Toggle airplane mode for 10 seconds, verify data roaming is on and that the APN provided by the seller is set. If needed, select a network manually from the list.
